Ukrainian Meat and Fish Stew ingredients

  • 2483527⁄624973141 lb Ground lamb
  • 2483527⁄624973141 lb Herring, fresh, cubed, Skinned & boned
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Plain Yogurt
  • 4 t butter
  • 4 Eggs; separated
  • 1 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Onion lg. chopped
  • 4 Potatos peeled & boiled
  • 2483527⁄624973141 t Salt
  • 2483527⁄624973141 t Black pepper
  • 2 t Goat cheese crumbled
  • 3 t Bread crumbs
  • 4 t Carrots shredded
  • qt of milk into a bowl and soak the herring in it 8-12 hours.

Cooking Ukrainian Meat and Fish Stew

1. Pat dry being sure to remove any and all bones.
2. Fryi the onions & garlic in 2 T of butter until golden.
3. Pan fry the ground meats and place into a food processor.
4. Add the onion, garlic herring, & potatos.
5. Chopi until a smooth mixture is achieved.
6. Stiri in the yogurt and the egg yolks.
7. Add the spices.
8. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. & butter a large baking dish.
9. Add the shredded carrots at this point.
10. Beat the egg whites until the are fairly stiff but not dry and then add to the mixture.
11. Turn the mixture into the buttered baking dish.
12. Sprinkle with the bread crumbs and goat cheese, dot with remaining butter, & then bake for 45 minutes.
13. Serve hot.
