Turkish delight 1 ingredients

  • 2 c Sugar
  • 2 T Cornstarch
  • 1 c water
  • 1⁄2 t Cream of tartar
  • 1 T Flavoring *
  • Food coloring **
  • 1⁄2 c Toasted nuts, chopped ***
  • Confectioners' sugar

Cooking Turkish delight 1

1. * flavorings: rose, mastic, strawberry, orange or lemon.
2. ** food coloring: red, yellow, green or orange (depending on flavoring used) *** nuts: almonds or pistachios dissolve sugar and cornstarch in water.
3. Add cream of tartar.
4. Boil to 220 °F. Cover pot the last 5 minutes.
5. Add flavor and food color.
6. Add nuts.
7. Pour into oiled shallow pan. When cool, cut into squares and roll each piece in sifted powdered sugar.
