Texas pit barbecue sauce ingredients

  • 1 Medium onions, chopped
  • 1 Cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 T butter Or margarine
  • 1⁄2 c ketchup
  • 1⁄4 c water
  • 2 T Vinegar
  • 1 T Light-brown sugar
  • 1 t Prepared mustard
  • 1⁄2 t Hot pepper sauce, (opt)
  • 1 Lemon or orange, (opt)
  • Sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Texas pit barbecue sauce

1. Cook the onion and garlic in butter in a medium saucepan until tender.
2. Add ketchup, water, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce.
3. Bring to a boil.
4. Remove from the heat and let stand for the flavors to mingle.
5. At this point, a sliced lemon or orange can be added, or a bit of the juice of either.
