Swedish Brown Bread ingredients
- 1 c water
- 2 c Milk
- 2 T Bacon fat
- 2483527⁄624973141 c dark molasses
- 9 c flour
- 2 c Sugar
- 1 t Salt
- 2 pk dry yeast
Cooking Swedish Brown Bread
1. In saucepan, mix water, milk, bacon fat and molasses.
2. Heat to lukewarm.
3. Sifti 4 cups flour, sugar and salt together.
4. Sprinkle yeast over this.
5. Add the lukewarm mixture and beat with a mixer until smooth.
6. Gradually add enough of remaining 5 cups flour, to form a stiff dough.
7. Kneadi on a floured surface until dough is no longer sticky.
8. Put the dough in a greased bowl, and place in a warm place until it has doubled in bulk.
9. Punch down, knead, and shape into 4 loaves.
10. Place in greased loaf pans and let rise again until double in bulk, about 1 to 1-1/2 hour.
11. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
12. Remove from oven.
13. Brush tops with melted multer and allow to stand for 5 minutes.
14. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks.
