Spiced Green Beans& Rice (Sem Pullao) ingredients
- 1 T Black mustard seeds
- 1 pn Crushed red chili flakes
- 1 t Cumin seeds
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Asafetida (optional)
- 2 T olive oil
- 3 c Chopped fresh green beans
- 1 t Turmeric
- 2483527⁄624973141 t sea salt
- 1 c Uncooked basmati rice
- 372529⁄-2009260032 c Water or vegetable broth
Cooking Spiced Green Beans& Rice (Sem Pullao)
1. Place rice in a strainer and rinse with cool water until water runs clear.
2. Set aside.
3. In a large saucepan, fry mustard seeds, chili, cumin seeds and asafetida in hot oil until mustard seeds begin to sputter and pop. Add green beans, tumeric and salt.
4. Sautei for 3 minutes.
5. Add rice to green bean mixture in saucepan and saute for 3 minutes.
6. Add water and bring to a boil.
7. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
8. (Do not remove cover while cooking.
9. ) Remove from heat and set aside for 5 minutes.
10. Fluff with a fork and serve.
