Spanish rice with tamales

Spanish rice with tamales ingredients
- 2 c Long grain rice
- 3 1⁄2 c water
- 1⁄2 t Salt
- 16 oz Can tomato sauce
- 4 oz Green chiles; diced
- 1⁄2 t Oregano
- 1⁄2 t Salt
- 2 T Sugar
- Tamales (2 per serving)
Cooking Spanish rice with tamales
1. Thaw tamales if frozen.
2. Leave tamales in original wrappers.
3. Plan on 2 per serving.
4. Place steaming plate into steamer.
5. Add 1 cup water.
6. Stack tamales on steaming plate.
7. Cover and cook until chime rings.
8. Tamalesi will hold for several hours on warm.
9. For variety, steam half tamales and half burritoes.

11. Time: 30 minutes, place rice in a strainer and hold under cold running water.
12. Rinse until water runs clear at the bottom.
13. Place inner pan into steamer and add rice, water and salt.
14. Stiri. Cover and cook until chime rings.
15. Mixi together tomato sauce, chilies, oregano, salt and sugar.
16. Pour over rice and stir gently combining all ingredients.
17. Let stand on warm for 15-20 minutes before serving.
