Savory baked beans ingredients
- 2 c Great Northern Beans
- 1 large Yellow Onion, chopped
- 1 large Green pepper, chopped
- 1⁄2 c water
- 1 1⁄2 t curry powder
- 2 T Lemon juice
- 1 ds Black peppercorns, ground to
- 2 qt water
- 2 Celery stalks, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 1⁄2 c water
- 2 T parsley, flakes
- 1 T soy sauce, low sodium
Cooking Savory baked beans
1. Preparation time: 3:15 cook the beans in the 2 quarts water until tender, about 2 hours.
2. Drain, reserving the liquid.
3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
4. Sautei the onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic in the ½ cup water for 10 minutes.
5. Remove from heat and add the cooked beans, 1 ½ cups bean-cooking liquid, and seasonings.
6. Pour into a casserole dish and bake for 1 hour.
7. hint: mash or grind up the leftovers for a delicious cold sandwich spread.
