Sausage and apple stuffing [for a 12-pound turkey] ingredients
- 8 c White bread, cubed-16 slices
- 1 lb Sausage meat
- 1 large onions, diced
- 2 large Apples, pared, quartered
- Cored, and chopped
- 1⁄2 c water
- 1 t Salt
Cooking Sausage and apple stuffing [for a 12-pound turkey]
1. Spread bread cubes on large cookie sheets; place in oven at 250°F for 10 minutes; remove from oven; reserve.
2. Cut sausage into thick slices.
3. Browni 5 minutes on each side in a medium-size skillet, then break into small pieces.
4. Cook 1 minute longer or until no trace of pink remains.
5. Combine with bread cubes in a large bowl.
6. Pour off drippings from skillet; measure; return 2 tablespoons.
7. Add onions, and sauté until tender.
8. Stiri in water and apples; heat tp boiling.
9. Pour over sausage mixture; add salt; toss lightly until evenly moist.
10. makes approximately 10 cups.
