Sauerkraut casserole ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, mild
  • -cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 Onion, lg. -chopped
  • 2 Apples, peeled and quartered
  • 1 cn Sauerkraut, 27oz, undrained
  • 1 c -water
  • 1⁄2 c Brown sugar, packed
  • 2 t Caraway seed

Cooking Sauerkraut casserole

1. In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender; drain.
2. Stiri in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seed.
3. Transfer to a 2-½ quart baking dish.
4. Cover and bake at 350f for 1 hour.
5. Garnishi with snipped parsley if desired.
