Saffron Buns ingredients

  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Milk
  • c Sugar
  • 1 t Salt
  • 2483527⁄624973141 lb butter -- (1 stick)
  • 1 t saffron
  • 2 T boiled water
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Very warm water
  • 2 pk dry yeast
  • 1 Eggs, beaten
  • 4 c Sifted flour
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c currants or seedless raisins

Cooking Saffron Buns

1. Preheat oven 20 minutes before buns are ready to bake at 375 degrees.
2. Makes 16 buns.
3. Scaldi the milk; stir in the sugar, salt and butter.
4. Cool to lukewarm.
5. Meanwhile, add the saffron to the boiling water; let stand.
6. Measure the very warm water into a large bowl (cool to lukewarm for yeast).
7. Stiri in the lukewarm milk mixture, beating egg, saffron and 2 cups flour; beat until smooth.
8. Stir in the currants, then enough flour to make a stiff dough.
9. Kneadi about 8 minutes.
10. Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise (1 hour).
11. Punch down.
12. Cover and let rise for 10 more minutes.
13. Shape into 16 buns.
14. Press down each one. Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
15. Bakei in oven 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
