Melon with lavender syrup ingredients

  • 1⁄2 c Sugar
  • 1⁄2 c water
  • 1⁄4 c Sweet dessert wine*
  • 2 T Orange juice
  • 1⁄4 c Fresh or dried lavender
  • -- flowers
  • 1 large Ripe melon, cubed
  • garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves

Cooking Melon with lavender syrup

1. *sauterne, grenache or sweet reisling.
2. bring sugar, water, wine and orange juice to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring once or twice to dissolve sugar.
3. Add lavender flowers.
4. Cover and steep for 1 to 2 hours.
5. Straini out lavender flowers, pressing on pulp.
6. to serve, pour syrup over melon; gently toss.
7. Garnishi with mint leaves.
8. yield: 4 to 6 servings.
