Maple-Frosted Golden Cake

Maple-Frosted Golden Cake ingredients

- 1 part Rpose flour
- 1 1⁄4 c Sugar
- 2 1⁄2 t baking powder
- 1 t Salt
- 1 c Milk
- 1⁄2 c -Shortening
- 2 Eggs
- 1 t vanilla
- Maple Frosting (below)
Cooking Maple-Frosted Golden Cake
1. In mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
2. Add 3/4 cup of the milk and the shortening.
3. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed of electric mixer.
4. Add remaining milk, eggs, and vanilla.
5. Beat 2 minutes more.
6. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pans.
7. Bakei at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.
8. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pans.
9. When cool, fill and frost with Maple Frosting.
10. MAPLE FROSTING: In saucepan cook 1 1/4 cups pure maple syrup to soft ball stage (238).
11. Gradually add the hot maple syrup to 2 stiffly beaten egg whites, beating constantly with electric mixer.
12. Stiri in 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar and beat till well blended.
