Lakhnawi khatti dal (lucknow sour lentils) ingredients
- 372529⁄-2009260032 c Pink lentils
- 1 T Finely chopped ginger
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Turmeric
- 1 T Lemon juice
- 1 c Boiling water
- 2 t Salt
- 5 T Ghee
- 1 t Black cumin seeds
- 1 T Minced garlic
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Red Pepper
Cooking Lakhnawi khatti dal (lucknow sour lentils)
1. Wash lentils thoroughly.
2. Place in a saucepan with the turmeric & 5 cups of water.
3. Bring to a boil, stirring often.
4. Reducei heat & simmer, partially covered, for 25 minutes.
5. Stiri occasionally.
6. Add lemon juice to lentils & cook for a further 15 minutes.
7. Turn off heat & beat with a wire whisk.
8. Heat ghee, when very hot, add cumin seeds & fry for about 10 seconds.
9. Remove pan from the heat & add red pepper & minced garlic.
10. Stir rapidly for 10 seconds until the garlic begins to colour, but do not let it brown.
11. Pour over the hot puree.
12. Serve immediately.
