Israeli Orange Chicken ingredients

  • 5 lb chicken, roasting
  • 2 Oranges, whole
  • 1 large Onion, cut in large slices
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Orange juice, fresh
  • 2 T Ginger, freshly grated
  • 2 T Honey
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Wine

Cooking Israeli Orange Chicken

1. Rinse and dry chicken.
2. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
3. Insert one whole orange in the chicken.
4. Place in roasting pan, breast side down.
5. Surround with onion slices.
6. Mixi juice with the ginger, and pour over the chicken.
7. Roasti uncovered at 350 deg F for 1/2 hour.
8. Remove chicken from the oven, turn over, and smear with honey.
9. Suround the chicken with the secon orange, sliced, and return to the oven.
10. After five minutes, baste with wine and pan juices.
11. If browning too quickly, cover with foil.
12. Bastei again, after 1/2 hour.
13. continue cooking until drumsticks are removed easily, about 1 more hour.
14. Remove the orange from the chicken, and slice it. Garnishi with herbs, as per taste.
15. Note: Haroset makes a good stuffing for this dish.
