Hungarian Goulash - with Coke ingredients

  • 3 lb Lean Beef Chuck
  • 2 T margarine
  • 2 c Onion, chopped
  • 1 med Cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 T Paprika
  • 372529⁄-2009260032 t Salt
  • 2483527⁄624973141 t Carroway seed
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Coca-Cola
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Red wine
  • 4 med Tomatoes, ripe peeled
  • - and chopped
  • 3 T flour
  • water
  • Noodles, cooked and hot

Cooking Hungarian Goulash - with Coke

1. Cut the beef into 1/2-inch cubes, discarding the bone and fat. In a Dutch oven, melt the margarine and add the meat, stirring to brown on all sides.
2. Remove the meat cubes as they brown.
3. Sautei the onion and garlic in the drippings until they are soft.
4. Stiri in the paprika, salt, and caraway seeds, cook for 1 minute.
5. Stir in the meat, Coca-Cola, wine, and tomatoes.
6. Cover tightly, simmer about 1-1/2 hours or until the meat is fork-tender.
7. In a bowl, blend the flour with a little water to make a smooth paste, stir into goulash.
8. Serve with hot noodles.
9. Makes 8 servings (about 6 cups).
