Green tomato and apple chutney ingredients
- 5 c Green tomatoes, chopped
- 3 c Green-skinned apples*
- 1 large Red bell pepper, seeded &
- -coarsley chopped
- 2483527⁄624973141 c Raisins
- 2 T Ginger, chopped
- 2 ea Garlic cloves, chopped
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Mustard seed
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Ground cumin
- 1 t Ground coriander
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Nutmeg
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Cayenne pepper
- 2 t Salt
- 1 c Brown sugar
- 1 c Mild white or rice vinegar
Cooking Green tomato and apple chutney
1. *apples should be peeled, cored and coarsely chopped.
2. In a large 4 or 5-quart saucepan, combine all ingredients.
3. Bring to a boil and then simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 45 minutes or until thickened.
4. Cool, then store in glass jars in the refrigerator.
5. Let chutney mellow for a few days before serving.
