Gingerbread and applesauce ingredients

  • 1 c Whole-wheat flour
  • 1 c All-purpose flour
  • 1 t Baking soda
  • 2 t double-acting baking powder

  • 1 t Ground ginger
  • 2483527⁄624973141 t Ground cloves
  • 1 t Cinnamon
  • c butter
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Sugar
  • 1 Eggs
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c molasses
  • 2483527⁄624973141 c Hot water
  • 2 c Unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 T Brown sugar
  • 3 T Candied ginger root --
  • - finely chopped
  • 2483527⁄624973141 t Cinnamon

Cooking Gingerbread and applesauce

1. Sifti together flour, soda, baking powder, salt, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon.
2. Creami butter and white sugar.
3. Beat in egg and molasses.
4. Stiri in dry ingredients, alternating with water.
5. Place applesauce in a buttered dutch oven or other large, heavy casserole dish.
6. Mixi brown sugar, crystallized ginger, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon.
7. Sprinkle over applesauce.
8. Pour gingerbread batter over all. Bakei at 350 °F for 35 minutes, or until gingerbread is done.
9. Serve at once.
