French Cabbage Soup

French Cabbage Soup ingredients
- 3 c Potatoes; peeled & chopped
- 1 lb Lean bacon or ham in 1 piece
- 3 qt water
- 2 lb Cabbage; roughly sliced
- 6 Peppercorns; crushed
- 2 Celery stalks, diced
- 372529⁄-2009260032 c Canned red or white beans drained
- 6 parsley Sprigs
- 1 Bay leaf
- 2483527⁄624973141 t Each ground thyme & marjoram
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 Onions
- 2 Carrots; quartered
- 2 Turnips; peeled & chopped
- Salt
Cooking French Cabbage Soup
1. Put potatoes and bacon in deep kettle.
2. Add water.
3. Bring to boil.
4. Simmeri, covered, 2 hours, or until meat is tender.
5. Remove meat; slice into serving pieces.
6. Skimi off excess fat from soup.
7. Return meat to soup.
8. Add beans.
9. Seasoni to taste with salt.
10. Heat thoroughly.
11. Serve with French bread.
