Firecrackers ingredients

  • 1 t Cayenne pepper
  • 1 t Salt
  • 2 1⁄2 c flour
  • 8 oz Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1⁄2 lb Butter (2 sticks) unsalted-
  • -at room temperature
  • 1 c Pecans, chopped fine

Cooking Firecrackers

1. Sifti cayenne, salt, and flour together.
2. In a separate bowl, cream butter and cheese together.
3. Gradually add flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
4. Add pecans.
5. Divide dough in half.
6. Roll into logs, 1 ½ inches x 8 inches.
7. Wrap each log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
8. To serve: preheat oven to 350 deg f. Greasei baking sheets.
9. With a sharp knife, cut logs into ¼" thick slices.
10. Arrange slices on baking sheets about ½ apart.
11. Bakei for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
12. Remove from sheets and cool completely.
13. Store in airtight containers.
14. Good when served with soups or as hors d"oeuvres.
