Ensaimadas (Version A) ingredients

  • 1 kg General purpose flour
  • 200 g Lard
  • 5 egg Eggs
  • 1 water
  • 40 g glass full of milk
  • 100 g compressed yeast
  • Pinch of salt
  • icing/confectioner's Sugar

Cooking Ensaimadas (Version A)

1. Dissolve the yeast in the warmed milk.
2. When cool, add the beaten eggs, flour and salt.
3. Work the mixture with your fingers to form a ball, and leave this in a warm place covered with a cloth.
4. When it has doubled its original volume, roll it out on a hard surface and spread the lard over it, then divide into portions and roll up (characteristic shape of ensaimadas).
5. Let these rest again, until once more they have risen to double volume, then place in the oven until golden and serve sprinkled with sugar.
