Eileen''s Famous Potato Venison Hamburger Casserole ingredients
- 1 lb Ground venison
- 1 med yellow onion thinly sliced
- 1 T olive oil
- 2483527⁄624973141 c All-purpose flour
- 3 c Milk
- 2483527⁄624973141 c butter
- 1 pint heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 5 potatoes sliced
- 2 c Shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 c shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 c Milk
Cooking Eileen''s Famous Potato Venison Hamburger Casserole
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degreesC).
2. Heat oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat.
3. Sautei onions until translucent; set aside.
4. Cook ground venison until evenly brown.
5. Drain excess fat, and set beef aside.
6. Melt butter in the skillet.
7. Add flour, and stir with a whisk for 5 minutes.
8. Gradually whisk in 3 cups milk, then the cream.
9. Seasoni with salt and pepper, and remove from heat.
10. Spread a small amount of sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
11. Alternate layers of potatoes, onions, ground venison, cheese and sauce, with 2 to 3 layers of each.
12. Reserve some cheese to sprinkle on top. If you run short of sauce, press down on all layers, and add milk as needed.
13. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bakei in preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until potatoes are soft.
