Chili-Cheese Burgers

Chili-Cheese Burgers ingredients
- 2 T olive oil
- 2 Onions, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 cn Tomatoes in juice (8 oz)
- 1 cn Green chilies (3.5 oz)
- 1 T Chili relish
- 1⁄2 t Cumin seeds
- 1 lb Lean ground beef
- Salt to taste
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
- 2 T Corn oil
- 4 sli Gruyere Cheese
- Shredded lettuce
- 4 Buns, split, warmed
- Onion slices
Cooking Chili-Cheese Burgers
1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan.
2. Add chopped onion and garlic and fry gently 5 minutes.
3. Process tomatoes in a blender or food processor to a puree.
4. Drain and chop chilies.
5. Add tomatoes, chilies, chili relish and cumin to onion mixture.
6. Stiri well, then cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7. Meanwhile, put ground beef into a bowl.
8. Add remaining onion, salt and pepper; mix well.
9. Divide into 4 equal balls and shape each in 1 4-1/2 round burger.
10. Heat corn oil in a large skillet.
11. Add burgers and 5-6 minutes on each side.
12. Top each with a slice of cheese.
13. Arrange lettuce on 4 bun halves.
14. Place burger on lettuce and top with chili sauce, onion and remaining bun halves.
15. Serve hot in napkins.
