Breakfast Waffles with Vanilla Sauce and Chopped Nuts ingredients
- 1⁄2 lb flour, sifted
- 1⁄2 t baking powder
- 4 Eggs
- 1 Pinch of salt
- 1⁄4 lb butter
- 2 c milk (lukewarm)
- 1⁄4 c Sugar
- FOR VANILLA CREAM
- 1 c Milk
- 1⁄4 c Sugar
- 3 Egg yolks
- 2⁄3 c Fresh cream
- 1 vanilla bean pod
- chopped almonds for garnish
Cooking Breakfast Waffles with Vanilla Sauce and Chopped Nuts
1. NOTE: For this recipe, you will need a waffle cooker.
2. Place sifted flour in a large mixing bowl.
3. Make a well at the center, then add the sugar, salt, and whole eggs.
4. Mixi and slowly stir in the lukewarm milk, little by little.
5. Add the baking powder and softened butter.
6. Mix well until a smooth batter is obtained.
7. To cook: Scoop batter into a waffle cooker, then close and let it cook for about 3 minutes until golden brown.
8. For Vanillai Creami Saucei: Whiski egg yolks and sugar until thick and light in color.
9. Heat milk and vanilla to almost a boil.
10. Very slowly pour 1/4 of the milk into the egg mixture while whisking vigoursly.
11. Add the mixture back to the remaining milk in the sauce pot and heat on low, stirring continuously until it becomes thickened.
12. Do not boil.
13. Pour the mixture through a fine strainer to remove the vanilla bean and any lumps.
14. Cool in an ice-water bath, then refrigerate for 2 hours.
15. To serve: Top waffles with vanilla cream sauce and chopped almonds or other nuts.
