Best Ever Hamburger Casserole ingredients

  • 5 med Potatoes; peeled
  • 1 sli bacon; optional
  • 1 T bacon drippings; optional, suggested
  • 1⁄4 c Cooking oil
  • 1⁄2 small Onion, chopped
  • 1 t Salt
  • 1 1⁄2 lb Hamburger
  • 1 cn Tomato soup
  • 1 cn creamed corn
  • 1⁄2 roll Ritz crackers; crushed
  • Black pepper
  • butter Or margarine

Cooking Best Ever Hamburger Casserole

1. Butteri a 2 quart casserole dish.
2. Wash and cut potatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices.
3. Heat oil in large frying pan. (also add a bacon slice or bacon drippings for added flavor, if desired) Add potatoes and cook on med-high heat flipping them occasionally with a spatula while breaking them up and browning slightly.
4. Add the onions and salt.
5. Cover and cook on medium heat while continuing to flip and break them up occasionally.
6. In separate pan, brown the hamburger.
7. Drain fat, if any. Stiri in tomato soup.
8. Remove from heat.
9. When the potatoes are cooked soft, place 1/2 of them on bottom of the casserole dish.
10. Sprinkle with black pepper.
11. Put 1/2 of meat mixture over potatoes.
12. Spread 1/2 can of creamed corn over meat.
13. Dot with a little butter.
14. Layer rest of potatoes, pepper, meat mixture, corn.
15. Top with crushed or crumbled Ritz crackers.
16. Dot with a little butter.
17. Cover dish.
18. Put in preheated 375°F oven.
19. Heat for about 30 min. Remove cover to brown the topping slightly.
20. * Watch carefully, topping will brown quickly.
21. Serve with a salad.
22. Leftover casserole is good reheated in microwave.
