Austrian Butter Cookies ingredients

  • 1 c flour
  • 1⁄2 c butter, softened
  • 2⁄3 c nuts chopped
  • 1 c Sugar

Cooking Austrian Butter Cookies

1. Sifti the flour and sugar together.
2. Add the chopped nuts.
3. Blend in the butter.
4. Stiri with a spoon until a soft dough is formed.
5. Chill for 1-2 hours.
6. Roll the dough out on a floured board to 1/8 thickness.
7. Cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter and place rounds on an ungreased cookie sheet.
8. Bakei at 375 (191C) for 7-10 min. Yields about 3 dozen.
9. Can be made into a sandwich cookie.
10. Traditional Austrian manner is to spread thinly with jam, cover with a second cookie, then cover top with chocolate frosting and a pecan or walnut half.
11. chocolate FROSTING 1 TB butter 1/3 c powdered sugar 1 egg yolk 1 sq unsweetened chocolate, -melted and cooled.
12. Creami butter and sugar.
13. Add egg yolk and chocolate.
14. Blend well.
