$20,000 Prize-Winning Chili ingredients

  • 2 1⁄2 lb Lean Ground Chuck
  • 1 lb Lean ground pork
  • 1 c Finely chopped onions
  • 4 garlic cloves; finely chpd.
  • 1 cn Budweiser beer (12 oz.)
  • 8 oz Hunt's Tomato Sauce
  • 1 c water
  • 3 T Chili powder
  • 2 T Ground cumin
  • 2 T Wyler's beef-flavor instant bouillon (or 6 cubes)
  • 2 t Oregano leaves
  • 2 t Paprika
  • 2 t Sugar
  • 1 t Unsweetened cocoa
  • 1⁄2 t Ground coriander
  • 1⁄2 t Louisiana hot sauce,to taste
  • 1 t flour
  • 1 t Cornmeal
  • 1 T Warm water

Cooking $20,000 Prize-Winning Chili

1. In large saucepan or Dutch oveni, brown half the meat; pour off fat. Remove meat.
2. Browni remaining meat; pour off all fat except 2 Tbsps.
3. Add onion, garlic; cook and stir until tender.
4. Add meat and remaining ingredients except flour, cornmeal and warm water.
5. Mixi well.
6. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer covered 2 hours.
7. Stiri together flour and cornmeal; add warm water.
8. Mix well.
9. Stir into chili mixture.
10. Cook covered 20 minutes longer.
11. Serve hot. Makes 2 quarts.
